Individual Therapy
How does therapy work?
Relationships are tremendously powerful, and often times they can wound us. At the same time, a compassionate and understanding relationship can also bring healing to those wounds.
Therapy is an empathic relationship that can help you understand more about yourself, identify unhelpful patterns, and help you process past pain. Therapy not only helps build insight but can help move you into a new experience of life that can help you feel more assured and connected to others.
Whether you’re looking for a therapist for depression, anxiety, or some other reason, you’ve already made a courageous first step. I’m so glad you’ve gotten this far.
Here are some common struggles I treat:
Anxiety
Depression
Relationship struggles and loneliness
Grief and loss
Traumatic experiences
Here are some areas where I have special insight and understanding:
Asian-American/Pacific Islander cultural backgrounds
Spirituality and Christian faith (This is whether you are currently practicing or no longer practicing but would like someone who has an understanding of your Christian faith background)
How much does a session cost?
A 50-minute therapy session is $250.
What about insurance?
I accept Aetna insurance through Alma and traditional Medicare (which is not the same as Medicare Advantage or Medi-Cal). However, some insurance plans, such as a preferred provider organization (PPO) plan, offer out-of-network benefits that can reimburse you for therapy. If you want to use your out-of-network benefits, I would not bill your insurance directly. Instead, I provide a statement of services, called a Superbill, which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Please note that if you decide to use your out-of-network benefits and request a Superbill, the statement will contain a diagnosis code.
I recommend checking with your insurance provider to see what kind of out-of-network benefits are in your plan as every plan is different.
Still unsure? That’s okay!
If you’re still feeling unsure about therapy, that’s perfectly okay. It’s really important that you feel comfortable during this process. In fact, research tells us that a good connection with your therapist is one of the most important aspects of making sure you get the most out of therapy.
If you have some questions you can ask me a question by clicking here. You can also schedule a free 15-minute phone call with me, and we can talk about whether therapy is right for you.
